What is a Christian Counselor?
The term "Christian counselor" includes both licensed and non-licensed professionals. Some individuals may have degrees or certifications in biblical counseling but are not licensed to practice therapy; these counselors often work with churches or ministry organizations and typically do not take insurance. They provide valuable spiritual trauma support but lack formal licensing.
On the other hand, licensed Christian counselors offer psychotherapy services and can bill insurance for their work. Clients who seek help from licensed Christian counselors benefit from evidence-based interventions—such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, or EMDR—delivered by practitioners who incorporate a Biblical or Christian worldview into their therapeutic methods.
Do I have to be a Christian to see you?
You don't need to be Christian to see me; as a licensed counselor, I work with clients of all backgrounds and faiths.
Will you push your faith down my throat?
Not at all! As a licensed counselor, I am here to assist you in clarifying your values and identifying your goals, rather than imposing my own values or objectives. My focus is on providing support tailored to your needs.
Is this a safe place to process spiritual trauma?
